Do you tire easily and gasp for breath with just a few yards of walking? Do have what they call “a spare tire around your waist” and a “Giggly Jell-Roll under your arms”? Then most likely you are overweight or much worse, obese. Obesity has reached an epidemic proportion in the U.S. today. According the national statistics, one out of three Americans is obese. This condition has also in the rise around the world.
Unhealthy diet and the modern way of life have contributed to this incidence more than any other factors like heredity and hormonal imbalances. With the absence of strenuous work, an average American spends most of his or her time in the office sitting in front of the TV or Computer screen making them a likely candidate for obesity.
Though a person’s worth is not measured by their physical appearance, color or race, and much more, their body weight, being obese has its risks. Many doctors would agree that this condition is not just a cosmetic consideration; it is really a health hazard which can have a lasting effect to the person concerned. Statistics has shown in the U.S. alone that approximately 300,000 people died due to obesity-related diseases. Life expectancy also is significantly reduced by 20 years for men and 5 years for women. Obese people are likely to develop hypertension, high cholesterol, Type II diabetes, and insulin resistance, gall stone, kidney trouble, osteoarthritis, and are likely to be prone to heat stroke and heart attack.
Due to the prevalence of obesity around the globe and the major risks it brings, many weight-loss techniques have been formulated and introduced to those affected. But the multi-million dollar question is “Are they safe and effective?” The public must be warned that not all weight-loss programs are efficient and safe and no short-cuts. Be very careful with pills or any medications that are being advertised especially friend-recommended ones. One pill that is prescribed to them and is effective to them may not be necessarily effective to you.
CHANGE DIET. Obesity is mostly caused by eating the wrong type of food, overeating or frequent eating junk food. No matter what the cause is, you must consult a competent professional to prescribe a healthy diet or you may deprive your body of its necessary nutrition.
CHANGE LIFESTYLE. Studies indicate that healthy lifestyle contributes much too normal body weight. Give yourself an adequate of sleep and rest, eat on time, and manage, if not, avoid stresses that come your way.
PROPER EXERCISE. No Pain, No Gain. Have an adequate and regular exercise. For people with ailments, it is always wise to consult your physician or physical therapists for exercise regimens that suit your condition. Improper exercise can be damaging to your body.
CONSULT PHYSICIAN. For people whose obesity is caused by hormonal imbalances or other illnesses, it is a must that they consult a doctor. Pills may be prescribed to control or help burn the body fat. Always remember, whatever may be the cause of your obesity, it is always wise and safe to consult your doctor. Some pills may have an adverse reaction to your body which will cause lasting damages to your system.
CONDITION THE MIND. There are no short-cuts. Any weight-loss program that guarantees rapid weight loss in just few weeks should be evaluated by an expert. Remember if it’s too good to be true. It’s not. You must understand that fats are stored layer by layer and should likewise be burned layer by layer. Arm yourself with determination to burn those fats. An adult man tends to carry fat in his chest, abdomen and buttocks and woman tends to carry fat in her breasts, hips, waist and buttocks.
I’ve been struggling with weight loss myself, but with a personal trainer, commitment and the recommendations listed above its working.
