Every year home accidents claim many lives, and many of these people would have survived if they had a medical alarm system to call for help. Medical alarms open up communication between the person in need and the medical alarm provider or another person in a position to help. They ensure prompt and quality help to impaired disabled and senior citizens. Medical alarms can save a life even if the person in severely injured; the most critical factor is receiving immediate assistance.
Medial alarms are very easy to use in the case of emergencies. Apparently, the last thing that a person would want in case of an emergency is to have to deal with a complex gadget, they need the gadget to be as easy to use as pressing a button. Most medical alarm systems come with a transmitter carried at all times and sends a radio signal to a receiver installed in the house. When the person activates the console, it dials a preset number to the emergency services center who provides immediate help to the individual.
The medical alarm monitoring center also maintains the user’s records for ease of response to various medical conditions and allergies the person may have. Each individual has unique needs from the other and the center will take precautionary measures to ensure that the correct help goes to the person.
Why have home medical alarms
Many elderly people are perfectly fine and do not require assistance for daily living, however they are worried of what may happen to them in case of an emergency. On the other hand, the biggest challenge with elderly people is that in case of a fall they are unable to get up on their own and will require assistance. Which means that if they fall and do not have other people around the home to help, then they may remain in that position for a long time, which can be detrimental to their health? For example, a hypertensive patient will require taking their medication regularly; being on the floor for a long time will prevent them from taking their mediation.
In addition, a fall might come with injuries. If a person is bleeding, they will require immediate medical attention not to forget that elderly people’s bones are also fragile meaning that they break easily. The immediate solution to the potential problem would be to live in a setting where there are people to help in case of an emergency. Alternatively, one may chose to reside in a retirement home where there is trained staff to handle emergencies.
Where these options are non-viable, medical alarms serve the purpose, and they are less expensive that living in senior citizens home and allow people to live their independent lives.
Ease of mind and dignity with medical alarms
Apparently, medical alarms offer peace of mind to elderly and disabled people and their families. You can go about your business peacefully knowing that your elderly parents have someone watching over them. Medical alarms are much easier to use and are worn on the wrist around the waist or the neck, evidently more reliable that a phone in the case of an emergency.
Many elderly people who live in senior citizens homes feel like they have lost their dignity. Medical alarms reinforce the lost dignity allowing them to live independent lives and go about their business comfortably and peacefully.

Thanks for the helpful information. I have been working with a woman in her 80's with numerous health issues and the question of "what if" always comes up. This would be the answer as she is used to living independently.

Great information. My grandma fell and broke her hip a couple of years ago, and I believe that her medical alarm saved her life.
